Our annual AMV Contest has returned with a new selection of anime music videos for you to enjoy! Editors from our local area, across the country, and even around the world will be competing for YOUR vote on who will win one of the category awards or even the presitgious Best in Show award!

Usually creating an anime music video takes a lot of time and careful thought. In this zany contest, however, some unsuspecting editors will be given just two hours and a surprise set of "ingredients" to whip up the best AMV possible! As our editors toil away, audience members can participate in fun mini-games (with prizes!) and will also vote on who wins the title of AMV Iron Chef!

AniParty is the premier U.S. anime song (anison) DJ club event which draws influence from the “anikura” (アニクラ) subculture of music nightclub event, popularized in Akihabara, Tokyo. Anikura centers around “Akiba-kei” genre of music, which is a mixture of anime songs (OPs, EDs, and insert songs to anime series’, video games , and visual novels), otaku-centric J-Pop, idol music, as well as popular fan-created works such as Vocaloid and Touhou.

Anikura has seen a massive surge in popularity over the recent years with multiple events every weekend in nightclubs across all of Japan. The goal of AniParty is to create an authentic, faithful anikura experience for North American fans of anime, anisong, J-Pop, and J-idol culture.

Japanese singer and composer Eri Sasaki will be performing here at Tora-Con! Sasaki is known for signing the opening for Plastic Memories, as well as composing and singing the ending themes for both Yuru Camp and Steins;Gate Zero. After the concert, there will be an opportunity for autographs!

WADAIKO, 和大虎, is Rochester's only taiko group. Based at the Rochester Institute of Technology, the group performs both traditional and modern pieces. WADAIKO's mission is to share the art of taiko, Japanese performance drumming, and to raise interest in both Japanese music and culture.
