Come join our wonderful staff team that puts together everything from our Cosplay Contest to our food truck selection!
A little bit about our staff:
Tora-Con staff members are responsible for planning and running the convention every year. Most roles require you to be able to participate throughout the year. A select few have responsibilities that are mainly day-of with little work to do throughout the year.
If you are more interested in only helping out during the convention, please look at our volunteering page. If you don’t see a position that interests you, please reach out as there may be openings not currently listed.
Our staffing positions are open to all who meet the qualifications listed below regardless of experience. Due to RIT policy, we are currently only able to accept those affiliated with RIT as staff members. Those unaffiliated with RIT are still more than welcome to help out as a volunteer and in other ways.

Qualifications:
Tora-Con staff members must be directly affiliated with RIT (RIT students, alumni, and faculty)
Must be 18 or older
Available for general and departmental meetings prior to the convention
In good standing with RIT, the RIT Anime Club, and Tora-Con

Our Revenue team is responsible for handelling all things registration and dealer’s hall. Some jobs include ensuring that registration for attendees runs smoothly, any inquiries that pop up get answered in a timely manner, and creating our layout for the dealer’s hall ranging from artists to dealers to badge pick-up and more!
Open Positions:
Vendors Coordinator - Coordinates vendors in the dealer’s hall. Everything from accepting vendors to planning where each vendor will be placed within the hall. (Planning and Day-of)
Artists Alley Coordinator - Plans out the artists section of our dealer’s hall. Everything from picking which artists get accepted to handelling our mailing lists for artists. (Planning and Day-of)
Logistics Coordinator - The main job that the Revenue Logistics Coordinator does is communicating with RIT staff at the Gordon Field House and Tech Crew. They ensure that all planned layouts are properly followed, lines are orderly, and that there is one central contact so that information doesn’t get lost in communication. (Planning and Day-of)
Registration Assistant - Most positions are open to having assistants, so the Registration Assistant listing is a reference for what other assistants may do in their roles (as well as to showcase one of our more-needed assistant roles). Our Registration Assistant will be responsible for helping the Registration Coordinator with tasks including, but not limited to: answering registration inquiries, creating a list of those receiving badges other than our typical weekend and one-day badges, and helping with badge pick-up. They will take over for our Registration Coordinator when they go on hiatus or decide to leave Tora-Con.(Planning and Day-of)

Our Media team plays the largest role in how Tora-Con is perceived outside of our convention weekend. Some of their other tasks include planning convention merchandise, creating a new Guidebook unique to each year, and more.

Art Contest Coordinator - The Art Contest Coordinator is responsible for arranging art contest prizes, showcasing the entries, and responding to any questions about the contest. (Planning and Day-of)
Social Media Assistant - Most positions are open to having assistants, so the Social Media Assistant listing is a reference for what other assistants may do in their roles (as well as to showcase one of our more-needed assistant roles). Their main role will be assisting the Social Media Coordinator with maintaining our social media accounts by answering inquiries and creating posts. They will take over for our Social Media Coordinator when they go on hiatus or decide to leave Tora-Con. (Planning and Day-of)

The Tora-Con Events Department is responsible for event programming which includes Tora-Con run events (AMV Contest, Cosplay Contest, etc), panels (run by attendees), and club collaboration events (Cosplay Chess, ACS Maid Cafe, etc).
Open Positions:
Club Collaboration Coordinator - Our Club Collaboration Coordinator plays a vital role in helping to maintain Tora-Con’s relations with RIT clubs and organizations. Every year, they reach out to RIT clubs and organizations and assist them with putting together events for Tora-Con. (Planning and Day-of)
Cosplay Contest Coordinator - The Cosplay Contest Coordinator will work with our cosplay judges and cosplay contestants to put together our annual Cosplay Contest. They will coordinate the schedule for the show, assist the judges with misc tasks, and ensure winners receive their prizes. (Planning and Day-of)
Panels Assistant - Most positions are open to having assistants, so the Panels Assistant listing is a reference for what other assistants may do in their roles (as well as to showcase one of our more-needed assistant roles). Our Panels Assistant will be responsible for helping the Panels Coordinator with tasks including, but not limited to: answering panel inquiries, reviewing and accepting panel applications, and scheduling panels. They will take over for our Panels Coordinator when they go on hiatus or decide to leave Tora-Con.(Planning and Day-of)

Operations mainly deals creating a safe and happy event space outside of our Dealer’s Hall. Some of their key tasks include creating event signage, preparing spaces for events, planning food for everyone at the convention, coordinating our day-of volunteer team, and more!
Open Positions:
Workforce Coordinator - Our Workforce Coordinator coordinates almost everything having to do with our day-of volunteers. This ranges from recruitment to training to helping volunteers interested in staffing join our staff force. (Planning and Day-of)
Info Coordinator - Know everything there is to know about Tora-Con (or at least interested in learning)? Our Info Coordinator is responsible for being our front-line staff member who helps with answering general attendee inquiries, forwarding special inquiries so they get to where they need to, and helping our attendees at our info-booths day-of. Sponsorships Coordinator - A new position as of this year. The Sponsorships Coordinator will work closely with the Operations Director as well as other departments to find sponsors that align with our goals. This job isn’t limited to working with sponsors, they will also help with coordinating donations and weekend food deals. (Planning and Day-of)
Interpreting Assistant - Most positions are open to having assistants, so the Interpreting Assistant listing is a reference for what other assistants may do in their roles (as well as to showcase one of our more-needed assistant roles). Our Interpreting Assistant will be responsible for helping our Interpreting Coordinator with determining how many volunteers and attendees may need ASL interpreting, giving them information on how to request it for events that don’t already have it, and requesting interpreters for our events while prioritizing certain ones to ensure enough interpreters are available day-of. They will take over for our Interpreting Coordinator when they go on hiatus or decide to leave Tora-Con. (Planning and Day-of)

The Guests Department is responsible for all things involving our guests. This ranges from our initial reach-out to planning guest-related events to making sure our guests have time to enjoy our day-of events as well.
